Objectives
In this chapter our goals are to learn the following:
- Learn about atmospheric pressure and how barometers work.
- Learn the various units of pressure and absolute zero and how to convert units of pressure.
- Understand how temperature and volume affect gases.
- Understand Boyle’s law, Charles law, Avogadro’s law.
- Understand and apply the Ideal Gas Law by solving word problems.
- Understand relationships between partial and total pressure of a gas mixture.
- Learn about the molar volume of an ideal gas and the definition of STP.
For Section 13.1
Be able to describe the properties of gases. Be able to convert common units, be able to define all Key Terms in this section. Explain Boyles law, Charles law, and Avogadro's law.
